10.23.15

The results of the Scholastic Reading Inventory (SRI) Test came home this week.  This tests comprehension and will show their lexile score.  4th grade level is about 600-750.  Our goal is for each of our students who scored below 600 to be within this range by end of 4th grade and for the others to improve their scores each time.  You can help your child with comprehension by having them read 20 minutes/night and asking them questions about what they read.  There are also worksheets on Pearson that your child can work on for practice.

We will be taking a walking field trip to Brighton High School on November 4 to watch Seussical.  Make sure students are dressed for the weather and have walking shoes on.

Mme. Fa'asu has started recorders.  Students should be practicing at home and keeping the recorder and book in their school bags so they always have it available.

Halloween- We will have a carnival next Friday and students can dress up in costumes.  Please make sure school dress code is still followed and no weapons, weapon-look-alikes or masks.

Math: We are finishing up Topic 6: multiplication.  We will have a test on Tuesday.  We will then review for first math CFA(test on topics 1-6) and take that test.
Language Arts: Starting Unit 2 week 4: Fact and Opinion.  Writing: opinion and narrative
French: reading fiction, verbs, writing: descriptive, spelling: U4 S1
Science: rocks and soil
Homework musts: read 20 min/night, spelling, math page, vocabulary, recorders (page 1&2)
