2015!

Happy New Year everyone!  I hope you all had a great and relaxing break from school.  Thank you again for all of the great gifts and notes I received!
2015 will be starting out very busy as we have both math and reading CFAs (concept tests) due soon and the district math and reading fluency tests coming up in a couple of weeks.  The math fluency test is mostly math facts, so make sure your student is still on Reflex math to practice.  The reading fluency test is reading aloud.  The benchmark for this test is 120 words per minute with 98% accuracy.  Please have your student read a page aloud to you each day and check that they aren't making any errors.

Math: We will be starting 2015 by finishing up with long division.  We have one more lesson on story problems to complete and then a review day with a wrap-up quiz probably on Wednesday.  We also will be reviewing and taking the 2nd math CFA test this week.  Please use the resources on my blog or on Pearson to help your student if they are struggling with long division.
Language Arts: We will be reviewing some reading strategies and grammar that we have learned and take the 3rd Language Arts CFA (40 question test).  We will also be starting 5 paragraph essays this week.  The writing SAGE test is in February, so we will be working on writing a lot over the next 6 weeks to make sure that they are prepared since the test is so early this year.
Science: Rocks and Soil.
Homework- spelling, read 20 min./night, worksheet, Reflex math, recorders
Have a great week!
