Please sign up for parent/teacher conferences ASAP!  If the window closes before you sign up, you will need to email me soon to set up a time/day that works for you.  There are some exciting things happening that we would love to share with you.  If you sign up during the school day, come a few minutes early to grab your student out of class to bring with you.  We are busy writing and trying to get ready for the writing SAGE tests which we will be taking in the middle of February this year.  Each student has an account with Utah Compose.  I am trying to help work with them to improve their writing scores, but with so many students and little time, there's only so much I can do.  Your students may work on these essays at home with you if they copy down their ID numbers.

Math: We are taking our first fraction test tomorrow.  I learned an easy way to compare fractions, so ask your student to show you.  We will be continuing with fractions for Topic 12.  Mon. 12-1, Tues. 12-2, Wed. 12-3, Thurs. 12-4 and Fri. 12-5.  I will have the lessons up on Pearson by this weekend.
Language Arts: We are starting our next story next week, which is also compare and contrast.  We will continue writing informational and opinion pieces.
Social Studies: We are learning about early people in Utah
Science: We are starting fossils.  There will be a retest for those who didn't master the Rock and Mineral test.
French: French fairy tales (part 1), connectors, transition and linking words/phrases, French traditional fairy tales.
Homework: spelling, vocabulary, worksheet, read 20 min/night (some aloud), Reflex math, Pearson (if needed), recorders
