Next week we have our first field trip to the Great Salt Lake. Hysong's class (purple) will be going on Monday and Rigler's class (blue) will be going on Wednesday. Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather, wears decent walking shoes, sunscreen, brings their lunch (unless they ordered school lunch), and brings a towel to dry their feet off after wading in to the lake. They are also allowed to bring something to do for the long bus ride there and back, but we will not be responsible for any lost or damaged items (cards, book, sketching, small electronic with headphones/no volume etc). They will probably come back very tired.
Language arts: we have been talking about plot and author's purpose. There will be a test next week on author's purpose, vocabulary and compound words.
Math: We will be wrapping up a short unit on patterns and taking a test on them next week. I have assigned the lessons on Pearson if your child needs additional practice. A Reflex math page went home yesterday. The district bought each student a membership and I set the language to French. Please log in and check it out as it is supposed to be fun and really helpful for math facts.
French: they will be working on the 'o' sounds and trying their first approach at conjugating. They will also be learning about the difference in past and present tense.
Science: finishing up the unit on the water cycle -an English packet went home yesterday that is a broad overview of the topic that we used to review in class.
Homework: a red homework folder went home today and has ideas for homework on the front. Everyone should be reading 20 minutes a day and completing the math homework page. The other items are ideas for what your student might need to work on. Please have your students do what they need the most practice in (kidblog is something we will be starting up soon).
