My first two big impressions since school started is that your children are very well behaved (thank you!) and many of them don't know their math facts (please practice)! Tomorrow is our first Topic test in math. A review test went home with your child today that you can look over with them if they need it. Also, homework is due tomorrow and the spelling test.
Language Arts: Author's Purpose, types of sentences, compound sentences, main idea and details
Math: We will be starting Topic 2 on patterns: 2-1, 2-2, 2-3, 2-4, and 2-5.
Science: Water Cycle
French: Unit 2 on greetings and descriptions, types of sentences
Volunteers: We are ready to have some volunteers come into the classroom to help out. We mostly have paperwork so far, but as the year progresses we will have student work also. You are always welcome to drop in and see if we have anything for you to do, but if you would like to have a scheduled time/day in one/both of the classes, please email us to let us know. We share volunteers, so if one of us doesn't have anything on a certain day, we may send you to the other class-there are still things you can do in Mlle. Rigler's class even if you don't speak French. (Mrs. Hysong will have more specific student-help times at the end of the month when keyboarding is done).
Symphony Field Trip: We will be going on another field trip on Monday, Sept. 22 and need to set up volunteers to help chaperone. We will take two parents from each class. Please email Mrs. Hysong soon if you would like to do this and we will email back four parents to confirm. 8:45-11:00.
Homework: spelling, vocabulary, math page, 20+ minutes of
reading/night, and practice keyboarding (there are websites on my blog) -
due on Friday. If needed, memorize multiplication facts! - it will make math easier and more fun for them = a better and more successful year.
Have a great week!
