9.17.15

We had a very busy week with a lot of units finishing up at the same time.  They should be bringing home a math test, Reading Street test and science quiz today.  Mdm. Fa'asu and I were really disappointed in how the classes as a whole did on both the science test in her class and the science vocabulary quiz in my class.  An English packet went home a week ago to help the students study the concepts and vocabulary in science.  These packets that I send home will also be useful to keep, so your child can review the concepts before the Science SAGE test in the spring.  I will be glad to hold them for you if you would like and return them in April for review.
Most of the students did do a GREAT job though on the math and Reading Street tests.  If your child did not get 80% or higher, they should be practicing more on Pearson (either math lessons or language arts worksheets).  I don't give much homework so that there is time to work on areas each student needs additional practice on.
Parent Conferences: signups start on 9/21.  If you would rather meet with us Monday after/before school, we can probably make that work if you email me.

Math: Topic 3: Mon-3.3, Tues-3.4, Wed-3.5, Thurs-3.6 and review, Fri-Test on lessons 1-5.  The following Monday, I will give a quick quiz on lesson 6.
Language Arts: Unit 1, Week 5: Main idea and details, writing: summaries and narrative
French: narrative text, vocabulary words
Science: Weather
Homework musts: spelling, math page, read 20 min/night, vocabulary
Homework as needed: Pearson, Reflex math, read aloud, keyboarding etc.
Have a great week!
